The most precious thing in art is its spiritual content, the inner light which inspires the human soul. My art is part of my personal effort to shine this light.

The central influence of my creative work is ancient Russian mural painting, where this light is expressed through a spiritual combination of colours and the laconic composition of forms. Each grain of a picture's surface, each change in direction of the artist's brush is the result of his inner experience, fired by the passion of his prayers.

My other major influence is Russian painting of the early XXth century (Kandinsky, Goncharova) as well as the art of Russian émigrés (Polyakov, de Staël) with its philosophical depth and vibrant language of colours. This kind of painting originated and evolved as an alternative to spiritual impoverishment and lifeless technologies in art.
